GOD’S HOLINESS

So here is my promised Saturday post. As I mentioned before, I am participating in an amazing blog party that is spreading the word of God’s Greatness! My friend, Julia, started this whole thing. There also is a giveaway so go check out Julia’s post!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Holiness of God is something that no one should tamper with. The Holiness of God is something that people like N.T Wright, a universalist, twist and redefine. The Holiness of God is one of the many things that sets our God apart from all the other “gods” in our world.
exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness
for the Lord our God is holy— Psalms 99:9 (King James Version)
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
The word Holy is mentioned in the Bible over 500 times. 500 y’all. That is a lot of times. The word Holy is a word that is used as an adjective to God only. Sure we say Holy Cow and other things like that but we usually don’t call people Holy. Good sure, but never Holy.
No one is ever going to be perfect enough to be Holy. Ever. The only perfect man ever was Jesus Christ, He was the Son of God. Many people try to argue that there have been other “perfect” people but Christians know that, that is not true.
“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
Romans 3: 10-12 (ESV)
No one in the history of the world, that was not Jesus, has ever been perfect. Not even Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was just as human as you and I.
God is Holy because He is perfect. He is Righteous. He is Good. He is Love. He is Merciful. He also is Just. Being all these things play into His Holiness. Many people question how God can be both Loving but also Just.
How can a loving God send people to Hell? Because He also is a Just God. He is a Judge.
Let’s put this into a modern perspective. Let’s say that you stole something and you go into court, do you expect that judge to be merciful? No, because it’s the law that if you stole something you go to jail. God is the same way. God cannot stand sin. The ONLY reason why we all aren’t headed towards eternal suffering is because of Jesus and what He did on the cross.
God is a Holy God. He cannot stand sin. But because Jesus paid for our sins on the cross, we now can be made right with God. We now can stand before Him pure, spotless, unblemished, and righteous through Christ.
Let’s go back to the court room. Say that you are about to go to jail due to stealing something when all of a sudden someone pays for your release. (Yes, this can happen in court.) Your debts are paid and now you are free to go because this person paid for your crime. That is exactly what Christ did on the cross for us. Isn’t that amazing?!
The sad thing is, is that people like N.T Wright don’t see it this way. They put God into this tiny box of their own making. They make Him a loving God but not a Just God. They say that everyone is going to go to heaven because all religions lead to God.
These people listen to what man has to say rather than God. They are false teachers. I know this from experience. As I mentioned in my testimony on Sunday, I had an old youth pastor who believed a lot of this and this is how I know all of this. Yes, there are false teachers out there today. There actual are more now than ever because a lot people don’t want a Biblical Christianity, they would rather twist and put God into a box of their own making rather than the God of the universe.
I honestly don’t understand why people would want to put God in a box and make Him a puny God. I would much rather have the God who created the cosmos behind me than some tiny God who can hardly do anything. I would much rather believe in a God who can create everything we know by speaking rather than one that used evolution or other things. I want a God who can change the heart of Saul and create him into Paul.
And what’s different between what I want and what these other “Christians” want is that I get what I want. My God is the one who changed the heart of Saul. My God is the one who created the entire universe by speaking. My God is an Awesome God! He can be your God too.
God loves all of us. He sent Jesus to come down and save us from our own self destruction and sin. Jesus was betrayed, beaten, and crucified on a cross for you and me. He loves us more than we could ever imagine. My bothers and I watched the Passion last night. My one brother, who is actually getting baptized tomorrow, and I were sobbing the entire time.
Jesus, the perfect spotless lamb was slain for you and I. He became sin who knew no sin so that we may find righteousness. Jesus, who was Holy, became unholy for us. He became sin for us. He became the very thing that He created, man, for us. He took ALL our sin, guilt, and shame onto Himself for us. Never before in the history of the world was there a greater sacrifice and there never will be again.
The Holiness of God is something that should never be tampered with. God can be both Just and Loving at the same time. He loves you and me so much. More than any person here on earth could ever love us. More than our parents and friends ever could. He loves us so much that He died on a cross, the worse form of death, and took our sin away.
I want to close with this:
God wants you. He didn’t send His Son down to the earth for nothing. He wants a relationship with you. He wants a relationship with me. We aren’t perfect and we never will be while here on this earth. We are always going to fall short of God’s standards. No matter how many good things we do, no matter how pure we stay, no matter how hard we try to keep the law, we will NEVER meet God’s standards of perfection. Save yourself the struggle and just come to Him as you are.
He wants you for you. He created you the way you are. He created your looks, personality, interests, etc. perfect. He wants you, you and all your baggage. No matter what you have done, there is nothing that is not too big to be forgiven. Trust me on this one.
And please do not think that I have it all together. I am no where near perfect. I am actual as far from being perfect as everyone else. If you ever need to talk, I am here to talk. I am here to pray with you. Pray works miracles y’all! I will have to share about that later. 😉
  3. You are beautiful, Abigail! You are a joy to see in a teenager! I have a teenage daughter. She is 17 years old, and I am glad to see how she is devoted to Jesus. She is not afraid to stand alone. I will direct her to your site. God bless you, dear Sister in Christ!
