THE MUSIC TAG

So I may or may not have stolen this from my friend, Kassie, read her post here. Technically she didn’t tag anyone so I just nominated myself for this tag. It looked fun, I loved music, and I haven’t done a tag in months so….let’s do this thing!

Rules

  1. Write ten songs that come on shuffle (no skipping).
  2. Write your favorite lyric from each song.
  3. Tag some people.

Let’s Begin!

I have a bunch of playlists so in honor of summer, I will be sharing a few songs from my Summer Playlist!

1.) Born to Live by About A Mile

There it goes like a lightning flash
Seconds pass and don’t come back
Make every moment a memory to last
Life short it moves to fast
Each breath is a gift from above
New mercies for me to receive I become
Speechless
See the sun coming up
Fall to my knees
Surrender to love

The first time I heard this song was on a Dude Perfect video and I really liked it. It’s not a favorite but it has a really catchy tune and it’s fun to listen to while doing stuff around the house.

2.) Battles by The Afters

Time after time, You’re my refuge
You heal every scar, You’re guarding my heart
Your promise, the hope that I cling to
My rescue, my friend, You come rushing in And surround me on every side
Your love is my armor, I fear no evil
Darkness runs from Your light
So I won’t be afraid, I won’t be afraid

I have listened to this song so many times, it’s not even funny! I was around 11 when I first heard it and it still is something that I jam out to 5 years later. It is so catchy and who doesn’t love The Afters?

3.) Verge by Owl City

Out on the verge of the rest of our lives tonight
Top of the world and we’re dressed to the nines tonight
Edge of the earth and we’re touching the sky tonight
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives

Come one, who doesn’t love Owl City?! Adam Young’s music is amazing and I will never grew tired of it!

4.) Where I Come From by Alan Jackson

I said where I come from
It’s cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch sittin’
Where I come from, tryin’ to make a livin’
And workin’ hard to get to heaven
Where I come from

I love this song. I love country music. I love the South. And I need to listen to more Alan Jackson music. What more can I say? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

5.) I Have Decided by 7eventh Time Down

In a world that stands divided
Let the church stand united
If you’re with me, let me here you say
I have decided

With my hands and my feet
With my heart and my voice
I will follow Jesus
With my life and my song
I have made this my choice
I will follow Jesus

I love this song! It speaks so much truth. I have loved every song that I have heard by 7eventh Time Down!

6.) Where the Bluegrass Grows by Steven Curtis Chapman

Well I come from a place where the bluegrass grows
Where the rivers run and the music flows
And I carry it with me everywhere I go
Cause underneath my skin
Well I’ve really always been
Just a boy who comes from where the bluegrass grows

This is my jam, y’all. I live in Kentucky so when I first heard this song I knew that I had to add it to literally every playlist I could. I am a girl who comes from the place where the bluegrass grows!

7.) Caught Up in the Country by Rodney Atkins

And miles and miles of John Deere green
Freedom far as I can see
A road to run and room to breathe
That’s who I am and I’ll always be

Caught up in the country
The only way I wanna be
Somewhere where the road ends
Out there where the creek bends
That’s where you can find me

This was one of the first country songs that I heard besides the old stuff like Alabama and Johnny Cash (along with others). I loved it from the beginning and I am pretty sure I will love it forever.

8.) Hustler by Zayde Wolf

Keep turning up the heat
I keep turning up the heat
Keep turning up the heat
Hey, hey, I’m a hustler

This was another Dude Perfect find, lol. I really like the tune to this song. The lyrics are okay but I prefer country to pop music. xD

9.) Made in America by Toby Keith

He’s got the red, white,
And blue flyin’ high on the farm
Semper fi tattooed on his left arm
Spends a little more in the store for a tag
In the back that says U.S.A.
He won’t buy nothin’ that he can’t fix
With WD Forty and a Craftsman wrench
He ain’t prejudice he’s just, made in America

This is by far my favorite song that has come on! I LOVE this song! 😍 Not only is it Toby Keith, but I just love the lyrics. Toby Keith is a country legend so anytime one of his songs comes on you can bet your bottom dollar that I am singing along.

10.) There is a Fire by National Park Radio

Into the unknown, into the night
Don’t let the fear, put out your light
If you believe it, then you just might
Realize that everything will be alright.

Spotify recommended this song to me and I fell in love with it instantly. I love the catchy tune. It’s almost bluegrass and it’s just pure energy. Also the name of the band is amazing.πŸ˜‰

  1. I LOVE IT!! You basically just tagged me back. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (And made me want to do it again!) Alan’s one of the artists I’ve listened to since forever. Every time Where I Come From gets to the verse about California I’m like, this is why I love country. πŸ˜‚ Speaking of which!! TOBY. KEITH. FOR THE WIN. 😍 (And Rodney Atkins…Watching You πŸ’•)
    So glad you did this!!!

  4. 1 & 2. Haven’t heard these…

    3. Really want to listen to that, now! πŸ˜€ Owl City wrote one of my favorite songs, so I’ve got an open mind about their music right now

    4. -mournfully shakes head- Nope, not that one, either…

    5. Usually, I cringe away from Christian music, because I don’t listen to lyrics, yet the lyrics do subtly affect me, but this seems like a good song to listen to. Doesn’t appear misleading at first glance, anyways :/

    6, 7, 8, 9, & 10. Wow, a bunch of songs I haven’t listened to! Lol

Back Home by Owl City…? Funny. I’ve heard of Owl City, and I know a song called “Back Home”, but that song was by Andy Grammar. Now I’m curious and I’m gonna listen to “Back Home” by Owl City and then “Verge” lol

    1. Owl City has so many amazing songs, you should definitely check him out again! Lol, well everyone has different tastes. I bet there is a lot of music you listen to, that I never have! πŸ˜‚

Is it the lyrics or the beat you don’t like about Christian Music?? I highly recommend Selah, they are amazing and I love them so much. They make really powerful music.

      1. Lol Definitely. I have a unique taste in music that none of my friends have understood xD

It’s neither, really, I just usually stumble across a doctrinally incorrect song eventually. I don’t pay attention to the lyrics, but I subconsciously listen, and that can cause problems, so I usually steer clear of it. There are some songs I listen to, the foremost being, “Trust In You” by Lauren Daigle. But I’ll check out Selah!

      2. Owl City is officially my favorite band O.O
“Verge” isn’t exactly my favorite song, but they have several others songs I have now heard, including, “Fireflies”, “Good Time”, “Deer in the Headlights”, and “Embers”! πŸ˜€

  5. This is such a cool tag — I might steal it. What do you think I should do if an instrumental song comes up? πŸ€”

Also, hi, my name is Joy and I’m new to your blog. πŸ™ƒ I like it so far!
