IT’S SO CLASSIC TAG

Rebellious Writes is celebrating 2 years! I have been following them through this whole journey and I cannot believe how far they have come!

I was tagged by the lovely Jenna to do this tag. I had been wanting to do it but I never got around to doing it until now, so enjoy! 🙂

Rules

1.) Link your post to Rebellious Writing (rebelliouswriting.com)

2.) Answer the questions

3.) Tag at least 5 bloggers

Let’s Begin

1.) What is one classic that hasn’t been made into a movie yet, but really needs to?

Um…..even though I have yet to read this book I would LOVE for Peter Jackson to do a movie for the Silmarillion. That would be awesome!!

2.) What draws you to classics?

Their timeless stories, beautiful writing, and memorable meanings. All these things are what go into a classic. I’ve read some classics that do not have these things and honestly I did not like reading those books. Thanks high school for nothing. 😂

3.) What is an underrated classic?

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I had to read this book for school Freshmen year and I LOVED it! It’s a pity that not as many people know about this book as they do other classics!

4.) What is one classic that you didn’t expect to love, but ended up loving anyway?

Please don’t kill me but I did not expect to love A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I had to read this book last year and I honestly did not like the beginning but once I got into it, I actually started liking it. Watching the BBC TV show after reading it really helped to. 😉

5.) What is your most favorite and least favorite classics?

Favorite: Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Least favorite: The Old Man and the Sea, The Secret Garden (Please don’t kill me!), and The Phantom TollBooth

6.) What is your favorite character from a classic? Or if that is too hard, one is your favorite classic character trope (e.g. strong and silent, quiet sidekick, etc.)

This question is so difficult! I really love a lot of characters from LOTR and CON….I can’t pick a favorite but some of my favorites are Aragorn, Merri, Pippin, Leoglas, okay really anyone in the Fellowship except for Bormir….(Again please don’t kill me!) I also really like Edmund, Lucy, Reepicheep, and Eustace. (He gets better in Silver Chair!)

7.) What’s a popular classic that you felt wasn’t actually that great?

A Secret Garden *quickly hides from the readers who love this book*

8.) Who is your favorite classic author?

Tolkien or Lewis!

9.) In your opinion, what makes a classic a classic?

My answer in 2 and 10.

10.) Relating to newer books, what attributes does a book need to have in order to be worthy of the title “classic”?

They have to have memorable characters. They have to have a moving and impactful message. They have to change your life for the better, They have to have withstand the change of time. They have to be just as good to future generations as they are to ours. They have to be impactful to the future generations. That is what it takes to make a classic.

  1. Yay more tags!! I’m not always the biggest classic fan so this will be fun to stop and think about. 👍 Hey, I haven’t read very much by Ray Bradbury but what I’ve read I’ve enjoyed!! My dad really likes him.
