Whether we choose to admit it or not, we tend to be very forgetful about our military. We forget about the thousands of men and women fighting for our freedom. They give up so much, family, safe and warm homes, friends, their daily lives, and sometimes even their lives for us. They deserve so much more then what our country has given them. They deserve to be recognized.

I believe that God gave me this passion for a reason. I do not know why at this exact moment however I am praying that God will reveal it soon. I want to do something to help. I have a very strong passion for veterans and even service members with PTSD. I want to help make an impact in these men and women’s lives. I want to help stop the awful statics of 22 veterans committing suicide a day. I want to do something to help.

You want to know why I have such a strong passion for the military (besides what I said above)? It is because these men and women are some of the most selfless people you will meet. Don’t get me wrong missionaries, adoptive families, foster families, and really any one else who follows where God calls them are selfless but that’s not what I’m focusing on. I am focusing on the men and women who are laying down their lives for you and me. They are doing it so we can have a better tomorrow. They are doing it so we can have another day of freedom.

We take freedom for granted. Americans are selfish. This is a very known fact. We take everything for granted and think things should just be handed to us – well at least some do. We never stop for a moment to smile at anyone anymore. We are so busy with our lives that we forget about those around us. We are too busy to thank the veteran next door. We are too busy to send letters to men and women who are serving overseas. We take their sacrifices for granted. We are acting like their deaths mean nothing.

I don’t want to take their sacrifices for granted anymore. I want them to know that I appreciate their service. I want to see people working hard to help soldiers with PTSD. I want these men and women to know that their sacrifices are not going to waste. I want them to know that there are still people – civilians – out there that appreciate them more than they could ever know.

I will be perfectly honest with y’all. My strong passion for our military is only something that I recently started having. I think it all went back to last year when I did a project in school. We had to design an art grant project. I don’t know how I came up with the idea but God laid it on my heart to do my project about veterans with PTSD. I designed a mock art therapy to help them. This is when I first really started being on fire for our military. I grew up in a very conservative home so I’ve always supported our military but not like this.

Y’all, our military is so amazing. Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. We should be thanking God that we have such a strong military. We live in an amazing country. Sure we definitely have our problems but we still live in a free country where we can serve God freely. We should be thanking God everyday for our country and our military. We should be praying for our leaders – even the liberals, y’all (especially them) – and our military.

I am going to close like this, I support our military because they are sacrificing everything for me and my freedom. I support them because they need as much support as they can get. I support them because they and their families are some of the selfless people you will meet. I will forever support our military. There is nothing you can do to convince me to change my opinion.

THIS IS A MUST SEE VIDEO! πŸ˜β€πŸ’• Someone in the comments said the most true thing ever “There’s nothing scarier than a Marine with God on his side.” Amen to that brother!
Again another MUST SEE video!! 😍

  1. Thank you for this, Abigail. In a way, I never really stopped to think about why…I *am* military, how dare I waver from that. But you know why? It’s like in “God Bless the USA”…the flag still stands for freedom, and I won’t forget the men who died. I know it’s the greatest group of people there is, fighting for what we believe in. It’s a family like no other and I’m proud of that.
I’m so excited to see how God uses your heart for PTSD. Too many people don’t take it seriously enough, or have no idea. And 22 a day is 22 too many. πŸ’”

  2. It JUST occurred to me you might be posting multiple posts for Patriotism Week… xD

I used for forget them a lot, but for some reason, every Spotify ad I’ve been getting is about the military, and since I listen to Spotify a lot, I wouldn’t be able to forget them nowadays if I tried :/ Strange how a simple ad can secretly be a blessing lol

Those statistics are definitely too high

Maybe most other people don’t stop to smile at others, but I’m probably the biggest optimist on the east coast! I literally smile more than half the time I’m in public πŸ˜€ I’m even literally smiling at my computer right now (though probably because I’m tired and I’m not as funny as I think I am lol)

Honestly, this article hurt me, though it did so in a way I’m sure was intentional. It’s funny, because while I support the military, I only know one person who joined the navy and that’s it (even then, I’m not sure he’s what you’d call a veteran. The only combat he’d seen was against pirates, which apparently still roam the seas) and so my support honestly isn’t as personal as it could/should be

    1. Lol, you can expect to see a post all the way up until the 11th! πŸ˜‰

I get those too all the time and as your said, its amazing how a simple ad allows me to remember and pray for our military every day.

I should have worded that better…..I smile at people all the time too. I love smiling and I usually am doing it unless I’m at a social event and I am in my introverted shell, lol. Lol! I’m smiling at my computer too right now so you have nothing to fear! πŸ˜‚

I was in the exact same boat are you are in now a few years ago. I hardly knew anyone who joined but now I know quite a few people who either are serving, veterans, or even a kid who’s a bootcamp right now.

However, even when I did not know anyone personal who was laying down their life for me, my mom still brought us to this one project where we’d pack packages for those deployed overseas. So there is things like that, that you can do. Or there are programs online where you can get people’s names and addresses to write letters to some men or women who don’t get very many letters. Also volunteering at a VA hospital if you have any around you is another way you can give back to veterans.

I would say that he is a veteran. He still served and though he didn’t put his life on the line as some others do, he still served our country way more than most! πŸ˜›

      1. Nice! πŸ˜€

Proof that God can use even the most annoying events for good πŸ˜€

I’m the opposite; between my personality and my extrovertedness, if I’m at a social event, I can’t stop smiling if I tried xD

        That’s super cool! πŸ˜€

We probably do have a VA hospital around somewhere. We have everything around (I don’t like cities; too much stuff). The question then becomes where, and is it in walking distance (because I don’t exactly how a vehicle or driver’s license :/ )

That’s definitely true, and that’s my own personal opinion, but no one calls him a veteran, and he doesn’t consider himself a veteran, thus why I doubt whether he’s actually a veteran or not -shrug-

      2. Lol, yeah like at youth group and stuff where I’m comfortable I am the happiest person but when I’m in a new environment with unfamiliar people I prefer to be a wallflower and unknown to everyone. πŸ˜‚

I don’t either, so I don’t blame you. I used to live in the city and now the I live in the country, I never want to live there again.

        Hmm, that’s weird……but I guess if that’s what he wants….*shrugs*

      3. Makes sense -shrug- Lol

I’m split. I absolutely love the country, but at the same time, if I’m gonna be a Forensics expert, the cities will be more beneficial for me :/ Basically, it’s “Fantasy” versus “Practicality” lol

        -shrug- (I think I shrug too much :/ )

  3. I just love this post. I have to comment quick because I’m on my way to a ladies Bible story but such a good post and that video at the end??! I was sobbing like a baby! I’ve seen it before but never really listened to the lyrics. Just so good! Thank you for sharing!
