EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton is used to high stress situations, but being forced to land on a mountain in a raging storm with a critical patient–and a serial killer on the loose–tests her skills and her nerve to the limit. She survives with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield’s help. But she’s not out of the woods yet.

In the ensuing days, Penny finds herself under attack. And when news reaches Holt that he may not have gotten his man after all, it will take all he and Penny have to catch a killer–before he catches one of them.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.

My Review

From high stakes, to a serial killer on the loose, to a mystery that still needs to be unfolded, Mrs. Eason crafted a novel that will keep you on your toes and your heart rushing with adrenaline until the very end. This book was an amazing start to her new series and I cannot wait to learn more about the characters who I assume are going to make appearances in it! Although it wasn’t my all time favorite by Mrs. Eason, this book still started off with a bang and I could not put it down until I was finished. There was so much to be discovered and revealed. I also couldn’t leave the characters to fend off a psychopath by themselves.

There were so many twists and turns in this book that it had my head swirling with so many questions and attempts to figure out how everyone played into the suspenseful mystery that Mrs. Eason spun so well.

The characters were amazing. Holt was such a dear. Although he had his stupid moments, he genuinely cared and was so protective of Penny. He was determined to stop Rabor before he could hurt anyone else, especially Penny. Even after getting hurt, he didn’t stop until his job was finished. He was just amazing. Penny was also so brave. I honestly do not know how she pushed through the way she did. I would’ve curled up in a ball and sobbed the entire book, if I was in her shoes. However, she was so headstrong, brave, and willing to put herself on the line for others. She was so admirable. I absolutely loved following both her and Holt through this novel.

I also enjoyed how Mrs. Eason incorporated God throughout this book even though that can be hard at times in a suspense novel. However, she did and she did a fabulous job doing it!

Although this book definitely was on the creepier side (hello, serial killer), it still was so good!! I cannot wait to see where Mrs. Eason takes these characters next in the books to come!!

*FTC: I received this book from Revell in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.*
